Tool Locations
The builder interface organizes tools across different areas:
Left Panel (Canvas Tools)
Located on the left side of the canvas:
- Add Nodes (+) - Open the node palette
- Pointer Mode - Toggle selection mode
- Sticky Notes - Add documentation notes
- Copy/Paste - Duplicate selected nodes
- Auto-Layout - Organize nodes automatically
- Zoom In/Out - Adjust canvas zoom
Top Bar
Located at the top of the editor:
- Test Flow - Open the test dialog: pick a channel, check which nodes it cannot run, and start a test conversation or open the test link
- Preview - Open the version you are editing in the web portal
- Versions - View version history, open an earlier version and restore it as a new draft
- Publish - Validate and publish the draft
- Settings - Open web configuration
Bottom Center
- Variables - Manage flow variables
- Templates - Open the Templates panel
Publish and the gate
The main button reads Publish while you are on a draft. Pressing it validates the flow twice, in the editor and in the engine that will run it. Only rules that would provably break a real conversation block the publish; everything else is shown as a warning and the publish goes through. Blocking errors are painted on their nodes and listed in the error panel at the bottom of the canvas. The full list of what blocks and what only warns is in Publish Gate.
Saving needs no button: the editor autosaves the draft while you work, with errors and all.
Versions
Versions opens the history of the flow: the draft you are editing, the published version and the older ones. Opening an earlier version loads it on the canvas so you can compare or restore it. While you are looking at a version other than the one you are editing, the Variables panel is read-only: you can see what that version declared, but changes are only accepted on the draft.
Templates
The Templates panel offers ready-made flows and sub-flows you can drop on the canvas. Applying one lays out its nodes, keeps your flow's own Start node and reconnects the template to it, so the flow still has exactly one Start. The template's variables are merged into the ones the flow already declares: a variable you had declared is kept, and the template's are added next to it. Nothing is lost by applying a template.
Flow Notices
The natural next stop after the editor is Flow Notices, under Conversational in the sidebar. It groups the notices your bots left in real conversations by flow and node, and each row links back here: Open node in editor opens the flow so the editor centers on the node and opens its configuration panel. The same link appears on each notice in the Chat notices panel.
Keyboard Shortcuts
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
Ctrl + C | Copy selected nodes |
Ctrl + V | Paste copied nodes |
Delete | Delete selected nodes |
Shift + Click | Add node to selection |
Drag | Select multiple nodes |
Quick Tips
- Use Auto-Layout after adding many nodes to keep your flow organized
- Copy & Paste works across different flows in the same browser session
- Test your flow on the channel you will use before publishing; the dialog tells you which nodes that channel cannot run
- Read the warnings the gate shows even when it lets you publish; each one becomes a notice when it happens in a real conversation
- Export your flow as backup before making major changes
